Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh led Sierra Leone’s mission to the International Counter Terrorism Academy in Jacques Ville, Côte d’Ivoire, where they held high-level talks with senior Ivoirian defence and security officials aimed at strengthening regional cooperation, peace and stability in line with the broader ECOWAS security agenda.
The delegation met with Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Defence, Téné Birahima Ouattara, the Minister for the Interior and Security, General Vagondo Diomandé, and other senior defence and security officials to discuss very crucial matters of counterterrorism, capacity building and regional security cooperation, amongst others.
Speaking on the outcome of the mission, Dr Jalloh said discussions focused on strengthening regional security architecture through regular exchanges, joint learning and capacity-building support.
“We discussed opportunities to strengthen the regional security architecture through regular exchanges and capacity building support,” the vice president said.
Dr Jalloh noted that the visit aligns with the broader regional security agenda of President Julius Maada Bio, who currently serves as chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
He added that the mission underscores Sierra Leone’s commitment to collective security, peacekeeping and regional stability.
“The mission aligns with His Excellency Julius Maada Bio’s broader vision of deepening regional security cooperation and bolstering Sierra Leone’s peacekeeping capabilities,” Dr Jalloh stated.
The vice president also expressed appreciation to both the French and Ivorian governments for their support and partnership in advancing regional peace and stability.
“I want to thank the French government and the Ivorian government for this successful mission and their commitment to regional security cooperation, peace and stability,” he said, describing the engagement as a positive step toward stronger regional security collaboration.
