Orange SL CEO strengthens ties with parliament and key ministries

The newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Orange Sierra Leone, Madam Aïcha Touré, has begun a series of high-level courtesy visits to key state institutions, reinforcing the company’s commitment to national development, digital inclusion, and strong public–private partnerships.

As part of her stakeholder engagements, Madam Touré paid a courtesy call on the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the Parliament of Sierra Leone, Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas, at his parliamentary office, where discussions focused on strengthening institutional collaboration and enhancing communication systems to support effective governance and socio-economic development.

Commending Orange SL’s contributions to the telecommunications sector, the Speaker described the company’s impact as commendable and assured Madam Touré of parliament’s willingness to work closely with Orange to improve connectivity nationwide. He also encouraged her to embrace Sierra Leone’s peace, hospitality, and cultural diversity.

In her response, Madam Touré reaffirmed Orange SL’s readiness to partner with Parliament and other public institutions to deliver reliable mobile and digital services. She emphasized that strong collaboration between government and the private sector is essential for sustainable development and improved service delivery to citizens.

Madam Touré also paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, where she was warmly received by Hon. Chernor Bah. The Minister congratulated her on her appointment and assured her of the ministry’s full support, noting that Orange SL’s success would directly contribute to national development.

Expressing appreciation for the warm reception, Madam Touré reiterated her commitment to serving Sierra Leone through innovation, partnership, and responsible corporate citizenship.

Further engagements with the Minister of Tertiary and Higher Education, Hon. Dr. Ramatulai Wuire, and the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education, Hon. Conrad Sackey, highlighted Orange SL’s growing role in human capital development. The Orange Foundation received commendation for supporting efforts to democratize pre-primary education, including the construction of six early childhood development schools across the country.

With over 3.4 million students in need of greater digital exposure, stakeholders acknowledged Orange SL’s contributions to digital inclusion, particularly through recent back-to-school promotions and education-focused initiatives. The minister of tertiary education also praised Orange for promoting education for women and girls through the Orange Foundation’s Women Digital Centers.

These engagements reflect Madam Touré’s broader strategy to align Orange SL’s operations with national priorities while strengthening partnerships that advance good governance, digital transformation, and inclusive growth. Parliament and key ministries expressed optimism that the collaboration with Orange SL will deliver lasting benefits to the people of Sierra Leone.
