Orange SONATEL Group Reports Over $500m Net Profit for FY2023

SONATEL, a subsidiary of Orange operating in Senegal, Mali, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, and Sierra Leone, reported a 19% increase in its consolidated net profit to 331.7 billion CFA francs ($548.8 million) in the 2023 financial year, compared to 279 billion FCFA in 2022, the Group’s FY2023 financial statements shows. The company’s consolidated revenue grew by 11.4% to XOF1,620.7 billion.

SONATEL attributes its strong performance to significant investments made to meet the growing needs of customers in a challenging and competitive environment. During the year, the company invested XOF253.5 billion in capital expenditures.

The company also credits its success to the growth of its mobile, Orange Money, and superfast broadband services across all markets and countries where it operates. In 2023, SONATEL’s fixed, mobile, and Internet subscriber base increased by 6% to 41.1 million. Orange Money subscribers grew by 19.8% to 31.6 million, with 11.7 million active users.

Looking ahead, SONATEL plans to continue its strategy as a multi-service operator by focusing on growth levers such as very high-speed fixed (fiber) and mobile (5G, 4G) services, as well as the enterprise market. The company aims to strengthen its position in the Mobile Money market by leveraging AI, digital technologies, and its super App Max it, while developing new products to enhance customer experience.
