The World Health Organization (WHO) Sierra Leone on Friday donated medical and laboratory tools and equipment plus two buses worth more than $400,000 to the Pharmacy Board and National Public Health Agency (NPHA), ahead of the World Health Day celebrations on April 7, as part of its commitment toward strengthening the country’s health system response.

WHO Country Representative Dr. George Ameh expressed delight in assisting Sierra Leone’s health sector, saying that the donated items would help boost service delivery in the country. He said the donation was made possible with funds from the Global Fund.

Representatives from the Pharmacy Board, including the Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation, Dr. Charles Senesie, expressed gratitude to WHO for the donation.

NPHA’s Executive Director Professor Foday Sahr said the buses will improve their personnel’s mobility and workforce efficiency.

These items, said Dr. Senesie, serve as a “big boost” to the country’s health sector. He said this will help to maintain health services and good public health.
