Orange Money has rewarded winners of its nationwide ‘Sober Kaiba’ promotional campaign with major prizes, while simultaneously launching a new Ramadan promotion aimed at supporting customers and strengthening digital financial services use across Sierra Leone.
At a ceremony on Thursday, the mobile financial service provider presented the awards, which included solar panels, generators, motorbikes and a tricycle to winners of the promotion.
The Sober Kaiba campaign, launched in October last year, was designed to encourage wider use of Orange Money’s digital payment and transfer services. Customers automatically qualified for prize draws based on their transaction activity during the campaign period.
Speaking at the event, Orange Money Chief Executive Officer David Mansaray thanked customers for their loyalty and participation, stressing that the initiative formed part of the company’s broader strategy to deepen customer engagement and promote digital financial inclusion.
He noted that consistent use of mobile money services not only benefits customers through convenience and security but also supports the expansion of accessible financial systems nationwide.
Most of the winners attended the ceremony in person to receive their prizes, while a few were absent. Those present expressed appreciation to Orange Money, describing the promotion as a meaningful incentive to continue using mobile financial services.
Elizabeth Marrah, who won the tricycle, said she initially doubted the notification informing her of the winning because she lives in Makeni and was unsure whether the message was genuine. She later confirmed the information and travelled to collect her prize, expressing gratitude for what she described as a life-changing opportunity.
“With this tricycle, I can improve my livelihood and support my family,” she said, adding that the campaign has strengthened her confidence in using Orange Money services.
With the conclusion of the Sober Kaiba campaign, Orange Money also used the occasion to introduce its Ramadan promotion, which targets customers during the Muslim holy month.
Under the new promotion, five motorbike or tricycle riders will receive 30 litres of fuel every week, while business owners stand a chance to win Le50,000 in cash. To qualify, merchants must receive payments through their Kotoku account or via their registered merchant code.
In addition to fuel and cash rewards, selected participants will also receive food items during the fasting period, as part of efforts to provide practical financial and material support to customers observing Ramadan.
Company representatives said the initiative reflects Orange Money’s commitment to supporting communities while encouraging the adoption of safe, reliable digital payment systems.
The firm emphasised that mobile money services continue to play an increasingly important role in Sierra Leone’s economy, particularly for small businesses, transport operators and individuals who rely on secure digital transactions for daily activities.
By combining customer reward campaigns with seasonal support programmes, Orange Money says it aims to build trust in digital finance while expanding access to financial services across urban and rural communities.
The company encouraged customers to continue using Orange Money platforms for transfers, bill payments and merchant transactions in order to benefit from ongoing promotions and future reward opportunities.
