Yesterday the Bo Stadium witnessed a thriller when Bo Rangers Football Club from the South clashed with Diamond Stars from the East in a Sierra Leone Premier League match.
Bo Rangers which had kept a clean sheet in all its home matches this season, was determined to make sure things stayed that way.
Diamond Stars went looking forward to be the football team that will do the dirty against the Rangers.
The first whistle of the match went at exactly 4:14pm when referee Alpha J Bangura called the match to order.
Bo Rangers were to show an early hunger for goals when it kept pressing Diamond Stars very early in the game.
As the band playing in the field thanked God in advance with the chorus “Oh Lord I am very, very grateful”, the Bo Rangers players responded with near misses on the Diamond Stars goal.
The excitement of the match was to see BBC World Service reporter, Umaru Fofana in his yellow T shirt to support Diamond Stars, moving up and down the VIP stands as if binding and casting any demon that may want to frustrate his team.
As if his prayer was being answered, Diamond Stars was to have their first direct kick at goal just 18 minutes after the start of the match.
After half time, Bo Rangers began to show Diamond Stars that they were the ones that truly “geh de game” with mounting pressure around the 18 of the Diamonds.
After Kabba Tucker of Bo Rangers was brought from the sub bench just 18 minutes into the second half, probably out of panic, Diamond Stars began to show a concession with them preferring a draw with them coming up with delaying tactics to frustrate the efforts of Bo Rangers but the fans of Bo Rangers would have none of it when they started to spur their players on with the usual: “We wan goal”.
Musa Kakua aka Musa Tombo was to hear their cries when just a minute to full time, he converted a lob from the surgical doctor of Bo Rangers into the Diamond Stars net to claim the only goal scored in the match which was to wipe the shine off the Diamonds from the east.
