In a heartfelt move to nurture its workforce, Africell on Friday launched its ‘Wel Body’ Initiative, a comprehensive wellness program designed to encourage healthy living and preventive healthcare among employees.
The launch coincided with Africell Health Awareness Day 2025, where staff from all departments gathered to participate in a day filled with health education, wellness talks, and free medical screenings. From blood pressure and sugar tests to HIV and Hepatitis checks, the initiative ensured that every employee had access to essential health services without cost or stigma.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Samba Jalloh, vice president of the Sierra Leone Medical and Dental Association, commended Africell for what he described as a “lifelong investment in the wellbeing of its people.”
“This initiative is a remarkable step towards building a healthier and more productive workforce,” Dr. Jalloh noted. “Regular health check-ups and awareness are vital in preventing chronic diseases and ensuring long-term wellness.”
His words resonated deeply with staff members, many of whom took the opportunity to undergo their first medical screening in years — a sign of the program’s early impact.
Speaking on behalf of management, Dr. Fatmata Taqi, Africell’s talent development director, said the ‘Wel Body’ initiative reflects the company’s belief that “a healthy team is a productive team.”

“Our people are the heart of Africell,” Dr. Taqi said. “By prioritizing their health, we’re not only improving their quality of life but also strengthening the foundation of our organization.”
She added that the company plans to make health awareness an ongoing commitment, integrating wellness programs into staff training, team-building activities, and community outreach.
Beyond its offices, Africell hopes that ‘Wel Body’ will inspire a broader culture of health consciousness across Sierra Leone. By empowering employees with knowledge and access to healthcare, the company aims to set an example of corporate empathy and leadership in workforce wellbeing.
As the event wrapped up, the atmosphere was filled with gratitude and optimism, a reflection of Africell’s growing reputation as a company that cares deeply for the people behind the brand.
